This coin is about bringing them home to rest. I recently learned that Australian soldiers up until the 1990s were buried where they fell. Their families never got them back in life or death. In 1990 that all changed and Australia fought to bring their soldiers back home to their families and that is still happening today. This feels like a little way to support those efforts and another piece of history to keep.
It’s such an important part of our history that not everyone knows. The story behind this coin is incredibly moving, and I think you’ve captured the meaning beautifully. Having it in your collection really does feel like holding a piece of that history and a way of honouring those who never made it home. I’m grateful you shared this perspective.
