The detailed reverse design depicts all 11 ships of the First Fleet, with the flagship HMS Sirius prominently featured in the centre and surrounded by the ten other vessels involved in the historic voyage. Each ship is individually named around the design, accompanied by the inscriptions “1788” and “The First Fleet.” The obverse features Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II alongside the coin’s Niue denomination, year, weight and silver purity.

Struck in impressive high relief from two troy ounces of 99.9% pure silver, the coin weighs approximately 62.2 grams and measures 55mm in diameter.
