2017 0.63oz 50c Silver Pride & Passion Proof Eddi Mabo - Mintage: 5,000

The 2017 Pride & Passion 50c Silver Proof Coin honours two landmark achievements for Indigenous Australians: the 50th anniversary of the 1967 referendum and the 25th anniversary of the historic Mabo decision.

Created in collaboration with award-winning contemporary artist Boneta-Marie Mabo, the granddaughter of Eddie ‘Koiki’ Mabo, the powerful reverse design features Eddie Mabo alongside the Torres Strait Islander and Australian Aboriginal flags. It also incorporates referendum campaign material displaying the message ‘Right Wrongs, Write Yes for Aborigines!’

Issued by the Royal Australian Mint, the coin was struck from 18.24 grams of 99.9% pure silver to a quality proof finish. This is equivalent to approximately 0.586 troy oz of pure silver.

With a maximum mintage of only 5,000 coins, this significant Australian release is highly collectable among Royal Australian Mint, Indigenous history and modern silver coin collectors.
