2016 0.804oz Silver Battle Of The Somme - Mintage: 5,000

Commemorate the centenary of one of the First World War’s most significant battles with this limited-edition 2016 Battle of the Somme $10 coloured silver proof coin.

Issued by the Solomon Islands as part of the First World War Centenary series, the reverse features a colourised scene from the Battle of the Somme accompanied by the inscriptions “First World War Centenary” and “1916 Battle of the Somme.” The obverse carries Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.

The coin was struck to proof quality from 25 grams of 92.5% sterling silver, equivalent to 0.804 troy ounces in total weight and approximately 0.743 troy ounces of pure silver. Measuring 40mm in diameter and limited to only 5,000 coins worldwide, it is a desirable addition to Australian military, First World War and commemorative silver collections.
