2016 Changeover 50th Anniversary $1 PNC - Mintage: 9,000

Product Description

Celebrate a defining moment in Australian history with the 2016 $1 Changeover 50th Anniversary of Decimal Currency PNC. Issued by Australia Post, this commemorative stamp and coin cover marks 50 years since Australia introduced dollars and cents on 14 February 1966.

The uncirculated Royal Australian Mint $1 coin features a special anniversary obverse combining a smaller portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with a representation of Australia’s pre-decimal florin. The reverse retains Stuart Devlin’s familiar five-kangaroo “Mob of Roos” design.

Struck in aluminium bronze, the coin weighs 9 grams and measures 25mm in diameter. The illustrated cover pairs it with the Decimal Currency anniversary stamp and a first-day cancellation dated 9 February 2016, Canberra ACT.

With a PNC issue of 9,000 covers, this release makes a meaningful addition to an Australian $1 coin, Changeover or postal numismatic cover collection. Available from All Things Minted.
