Celebrate Australia’s largest bird of prey with the distinctive 2015 Wedge-tailed Eagle Australian Map-Shaped $1 Silver Coin.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver, this Australian legal-tender coin has been crafted in the unique shape of the Australian continent.
The coloured reverse depicts a powerful Wedge-tailed Eagle in mid-flight above a river, with mountains rising in the background. The design also includes the inscription WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE, The Perth Mint’s traditional “P” mintmark and the 2015 year date.
The Wedge-tailed Eagle was the seventh release in the Australian Map-Shaped Coin Series. Although its maximum advertised mintage was 6,000, The Perth Mint’s official figures record a much lower declared mintage of only 3,637 coins.
