2014 50c Coloured 50th Anniversary Of Aiatsis Carded Coin - Mintage: 30,000

Issued by the Royal Australian Mint in 2014, this coloured 50-cent coin commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies, commonly known as AIATSIS.

The reverse features the coloured AIATSIS logo surrounded by traditional Indigenous-inspired patterns. The logo represents a shield derived from the painted boomerang totem of the Gu’na’ni people from North Queensland. The obverse carries the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.

This is the official coloured uncirculated collector version presented on its original Royal Australian Mint card. With a limited carded mintage of only 30,000, it is considerably scarcer than the three-million non-coloured coins released into circulation.
