Remember the courage and sacrifice of Australian servicemen on the Western Front with the 2014 50c Red Poppy Western Front Coloured Uncirculated Coin.

Released by the Royal Australian Mint as part of the Australia at War series, the reverse features Australian soldiers paying tribute to their fallen colleagues. A striking colour-printed red remembrance poppy forms the centrepiece of the design, creating a powerful symbol of sacrifice, remembrance and respect.

Australian troops served on the Western Front from 1916 until 1918, participating in major battles including Fromelles, Pozières, Passchendaele, Amiens and Montbrehain. The Western Front became the principal theatre of war for Australian forces during the First World War.

Although the coin had a maximum authorised mintage of 50,000, Royal Australian Mint production records show that only 32,654 coins were produced, making it considerably scarcer than the original limit suggests.
