Product description
Issued by the Royal Australian Mint in 2013, this uncirculated one-dollar coin commemorates 200 years of The Benevolent Society, Australia’s first charity.
Founded in 1813, The Benevolent Society has supported Australians through numerous social programs and helped pioneer initiatives including free maternity care, legal aid and the introduction of the aged pension.
The coin’s reverse features an interpretation of the organisation’s original logo, depicting a female figure assisting a mother and her children. The obverse carries the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
Presented on its original Royal Australian Mint collector card and limited to a mintage of only 16,002, this non-circulating legal-tender release is an appealing addition to any Australian commemorative or carded coin collection.
Please refer to the supplied photographs for the condition of the coin and presentation card.
