2005 (1.94oz) $10 Silver Gold Plated Sydney Mint Sesquicentenary Proof Coin - Mintage: 10,000

Product Description

Celebrate 150 years of Australian minting history with the 2005 $10 Sydney Mint Sesquicentenary Gold Plated Silver Proof Coin. Issued by the Royal Australian Mint, this commemorative release honours the Sydney Mint’s opening in 1855.

Crafted from 99.9% fine silver with selective 99.99% pure gold plating on both sides, this substantial coin weighs 60.50g, approximately 1.94 troy ounces, and measures 50mm in diameter. Its proof finish highlights the contrast between the silver surfaces and gold-plated details.

Designed by Wojciech Pietranik, the coin features an artistic impression of the historic Sydney Mint building as it appeared around 1900–1910. The design connects collectors with a landmark that helped shape Australia’s coinage heritage.

With a limited mintage of 10,000, this anniversary release makes an appealing addition to collections of Royal Australian Mint silver proofs and Australian historical coins. Available from All Things Minted.
