1998 6x Coin UNC 50c Bass & Flinders RAM Year Set - Mintage: 74,108

Product description:

Celebrate Australia’s maritime history with the 1998 Bass & Flinders Six Coin Uncirculated Year Set from the Royal Australian Mint. Featuring the commemorative 50c coin, this set marks 200 years since George Bass and Matthew Flinders’ 1798 voyage around Tasmania, confirming its separation from mainland Australia.

The set includes six 1998-dated coins in uncirculated condition: 5c, 10c, 20c, the Bass & Flinders 50c, $1 and $2. The featured 50c depicts portraits of the explorers over a map showing their voyage, while the remaining denominations carry their standard Australian designs.

With a recorded mintage of 74,108 sets, this release also marks the final year of the Raphael Maklouf portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on Australia’s standard decimal coinage. Originally issued in Royal Australian Mint presentation packaging with a protective outer sleeve, it makes a great addition to an Australian year-set collection or a thoughtful 1998 birth-year gift.
